Back River Outfitter's and Wallace's Bait and Tackle will have the inaugural Back River Slam Fishing Tournament August 28th focusing on a combined catch of flounder, red drum, and speckled trout.  There will be both a boat division and kayak division.  Fish brought in to the weigh-in are going to be provided to VMRC's Marine Sportfish Collection Project for biological data, then returned the teams/anglers.  This is a catch and weigh-in tournament, not a photo-measure tournament.  There are separate challenges for best flounder, red drum, and speckled trout which will pit kayaks vs. boats in a direct competition if entered.  The majority of the entry fees and sponsor fees will go back towards prize monies, but there will be a portion of all funds directed toward local charitable organizations as well.  Information on sponsors and additional giveaways will be announced as they join up.  For instance, Dave at Mountain Breeze Taxidermy will provide a special mount for the winner of each separate challenge.  He is going to produce a flounder mount, red drum mount, and speckled trout mount to go to the respective challenge winners.

Entry forms with rules and regulations are at Wallace's Bait and Tackle (757) 851-5451, posted on a Facebook event page, and (hopefully) attached.  There is not a dedicated web page at this time.  Captain's meeting August 27 at 7pm.
