Additionally, on Saturday, August 29th, Jeff Bennett will be hosting an Electric Kayak Seminar from 9 AM to 11 AM at Great Outdoor Provision, located at 1556 Laskin Rd, VA Beach, VA 23451. Jeff recently motorized his kayak and will be sharing his experience and the steps involved. 

Don’t forget — the 22nd Annual Kayak Fishing Tournament is now open for registration on Fish Donkey! The first 50 registrants will receive a Captain’s Bag. Be sure to sign up by August 31st to guarantee your tournament T-shirt. There are only 8 days left to get your shirt! It's been a little while since the last newsletter went out, and I've really enjoyed seeing posts from all our freshwater anglers. Last weekend, I went out and only managed to catch an oyster toad.

It looks like the fishing reports on our Facebook have been slow lately — quite a few skunks out there. However, there are some red drum being caught, and I’ve also seen some sheepshead reports. I’m considering going crabbing next weekend after seeing all the crabs in the water over the weekend. But I’m confident the action will pick up soon. 

Our Sheepshead Tournament is currently underway from June 1st to June 30th. The current leader is at 13½ inches. You can still sign up — just remember, there’s a 24-hour waiting period before any fish can be submitted. The Red Drum Tournament runs from June 15th to July 6th, and so far, no one is on the leaderboard.

We’re really excited about the September Charity Tournament! We’re receiving lots of products for the raffles this year! The event will be held at The Water Table in VA Beach, which is close to hotels. To enter, just sign up on Fish Donkey and search for TKAA. It feels like summer is taking its sweet time to arrive, and I’m eagerly awaiting the heat! We’re starting to see sheepshead show up, so remember — we currently have a sheepshead tournament underway. To participate, just sign up on Fish Donkey and search TKAA. Please note, you need to be signed up at least 24 hours before submitting any fish. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Our next in-person meeting is scheduled for August 27, from 6 PM to 8 PM. We’re excited to have Stan Simmerman as our guest speaker — a true legend in speckled trout fishing! Mark your calendars and come learn from the best.  Also in August, we are planning to do a seminar on an electric kayak given by our president Tim Riley.  we will publish more information the closer we get to August.  

Planning for the September tournament is also underway. It will be held at the Watertable in Virginia Beach — less than a mile from nearby hotels. Registration will be through Fish Donkey — just search TKAA. We’ll have a variety of products from different vendors, including about 20 fishing rods from TFO available for raffle.

Make sure you go and check out the website! www.tkaa.org.  It has been given a huge face lift with a message board reserved for active members.
