I've seen the newsletters announcing tournaments, but I really don't want to join / pay Fish Donkey just to figure out how these tournaments work so I can determine if I can actually fish them. Is there a "How to" section regarding how these tournaments work somewhere on this site? I haven't been able to find it. Thanks in advance.

Yes, FishDonkey includes a "Practice Entering a Fish" feature that anglers can use to learn how to submit fish before an event starts. It's a great way to become familiar with the app and make sure everything is set up correctly. The tournaments are generally very family-friendly and geared more toward fun and participation rather than the highly competitive, hardcore tournament style of organizations like KBF.

Question on signing up on Fishdonkey. I believe as a TKAA member I get a $25 discount on the entry fee. I went to sign up on FD and it looks like I need to pay the full $100. How/when is the member discount applied in the tournament sign up process - or am I confused on this?
